Between June and August in Miyoshi City, you can view the ancient practice of cormorant fishing as recorded in the Kojiki (Japan's oldest written records). This itinerary will also take you on a tour of seasonal flowers and art museums.

Miyoshi Cormorant Fishing【June to August】
Miyoshi City's seasonal cormorant fishing will transport you into another world. Cormorant fishing is a form of fishing that uses the natural behavior of the cormorant - diving skillfully underwater to catch fish. There are records of this type of fishing in the ancient Japanese text Kojiki that dates back to the early 8th century.
You can observe the skill of the cormorant fishermen on cruises departing from the pier at Shinsui Park between June and August. Please contact for further details.

Part of the Michi-no-Eki Forest Kimita, the hot springs here are known locally as the 'waters of beauty'. For a walk on the wild side, Kimita Onsen offer traditional local 'wani' dishes. Although wani is usually the Japanese word for crocodile, these traditional dishes are made from shark meat.

Bihoku Hillside Park
This is a park you can enjoy all year round. Inside the park, you can find the Flower Garden with seasonal flowers in bloom from spring to autumn, the large open lawn to play on, and an extensive adventure course. There is also the 'Hiba-no-Sato', a recreated traditional Japanese village with thatched farmhouses, a kagura theater, workshops and fields. In spring, tulips are in bloom, in summer sunflowers steal the show, and in autumn cosmos flowers capture the imagination.

Okuda Genso Sayume Art Museum
Named after the husband and wife team Genso and Sayume Okuda, the museum brings together Japanese painting and three dimensional dolls. Besides the permanent exhibition room that displays the couple's artworks, there are regular exhibitions of works by leading artists from Japan and abroad.

Hiroshima Miyoshi Winery
Besides contracted wine growers, this winery does everything from cultivation to harvesting the grapes to make their distinctive wine. You can tour the production facilities as well as shop in the wine center. There is also dining available in the barbecue garden and the cafe.
