2017.07.10 Event Information: Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony

Each August 6th, Hiroshima holds a peace memorial ceremony for those who were killed in the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Many people from around the world gather here and pray for lasting world peace and the abolition of nuclear weapons. In the evening, visitors can release floating lanterns (Toronagashi) in the Motoyasu-gawa River in front of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. Hiroshima City will also provide a campsite for visitors to the 2017 Peace Memorial Ceremony. Visitors and citizens alike can share their opinions about the abolition of nuclear weapons and the realization of world peace. The campsite is available from August 4th to noon on August 7th. The campsite requires advance reservations which must be done by July 31st. For more information, check out the website below:
