Mt. Hiba, a part of Hiba-Dogo-Taishaku Quasi-National Park is located on the border of Shimane prefecture. There are a series of mountain that are classified into the mountains 1200m at the elevation around Mt.Hiba. The area of the summit is covered by virgin forest of beech trees that is designated as a national treasure, and the beautiful scenery of fresh green and the autumn leaves are appealing to visiting climbers. It has been known as a religious mountain which was introduced in "Kojiki" (Japanese oldest chronicle), and as the place where "Hibagon of apes" (Japanese equivalent of Bigfoot or Yeti) appeared. Most of the area is overlapping with the area of Hiroshima-ken-no-Mori; ski resort, camping site, and walking trails are well maintained. Also, the area is blessed with alpine plants.
