This beautiful golden beach stretches for over 400m on the south of Kami-Kamagari. With its stunning scenery and crystal clear jade-green waters, the beach was chosen as one of the top 100 beaches in Japan. The facilities around the beach offer everything from accommodation, chalets, restaurants, sea kayaking and a hot spring onsen bath.
On the western edge of the beach, you'll see an astronomical observatory housing Japan's largest Maksutov telescope. You can book a guided tour of the observatory or turn up to the space observation gathering every Saturday from 7:30pm to 9pm. It's rare to find an observatory built so close to the sea, but it lets you observe the stars while listening to the relaxing sound of the waves nearby.
